District purchases Study Island for Grades 3-12

The Board of Education approved an agreement with Study Island, effective Oct. 22, 2007 until January 2009. The agreement will cover licenses and access for students and staff Grades 3-12 in the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District.

Study Island can be used as support to any instruction because it is aligned to the Ohio Content Standards. It can be used with the whole class or as part of differentiated instruction. It can also be used as homework assignments and additional practice toward the indicators on the state tests. Because it is web-based it can be used at school or at home. Teachers can use Study Island as a diagnostic tool to guide classroom instruction.

Board OKs contract with NEOnet for Parent Notification system

The Board of Education approved a five-year contract with NEOnet for the PreK-12 Parent Notification system. The telephone/email communication system will deliver emergency and non-emergency messages to parents and staff. Using this system, the district can quickly contact all families in minutes with urgent news such as school closings, early dismissals, or other emergency situations.

We will also use the service to provide timely non-emergency information such as reminders about important meetings or special events at school that involve your children.

Parents:
When we send a message, the Caller ID will always identify the call is coming from your school or the district office. The message will be a voice you will recognize and will be left on your answering machine or in your voicemail if you do not hear it for the first time.

Each family will have up to 4 telephone numbers and 4 email addresses. In an emergency, the message will be delivered to all of your numbers and email addresses. For non-urgent messages, only your home telephone or another number, such as a cell phone, will be called based on your instructions.

We are confident that this new system will enhance our ability to effectively communicate with all our families. It will also cut costs by eliminating the need to send home some flyers and mailings.

When the system is ready to go, we will let you know either through this website, the Superintendent's E-Newsletter or the Stow Sentry.
