Food Service Department honored

All nine Stow-Munroe Falls City School buildings have been recognized as 2006 Stellar Award Honorable Mentions by the Ohio Department of Education Office of Safety, Health and Nutrition. The Stellar Award is given to schools that are making strides toward providing students with healthy choices and pleasant eating environments.

The school received this honorable mention based on efforts in the following areas:

• Type of meal service provided to students

• Quality of meals served

• Ala carte and vending machine options that include healthy choices

• Continuing education and training for school food service staff

• Effort made to provide a pleasant eating environment

• Nutrition education, marketing programs and activities that target students, staff, parents and the community.
