Important Transition Resource for Families

Whose IDEA Is This? A Resource Guide for Parents

We serve 679 students, ages 3-22, who have special needs.

Staff
Twenty-four resource room teachers and 10 individual small group instruction tutors serve students in every building. Students with high incidence disabilities are served in their neighborhood schools. The district has five teachers for children with multiple disabilities, six for students with emotional disturbance, and four preschool teachers.

Programs are supported by educational aides, occupational therapists, and physical therapists as required by individual student needs. In addition, a large number of students receive speech and/or language therapy from the district's six therapists. Five school psychologists complete the Special Services team.

Other services available through the Six District Educational Compact include vocational evaluations, work-study, a Career/Technical special needs coordinator and Option 4.

Special Services programs are supported by state and federal grants.
