INTER-DISTRICT OPEN ENROLLMENT

The Stow-Munroe Falls City School District believes in furthering a parent's educational options by permitting students from all school districts, under certain prescribed circumstances, to benefit from an interdistrict, open enrollment policy. Guidelines for the transfer of students, based upon criteria established by the district's administration and in conjunction with recommendations from officials from the Ohio Department of Education are listed below.

A. Parental information shall be disseminated on dates scheduled by the Administration each school year.

B. A copy of this policy shall be provided to the Board of Education and Superintendent of each adjacent district, and upon request, to the parent of any adjacent district student.

C. Before each school year, any application for interdistrict transfer shall be submitted to the Superintendent's office by June 1. Applications will be acted upon no later than five (5) days prior to the opening day of the school year, and the student and the superintendent of the adjacent district will be promptly notified thereafter of the decision on the application. An application must be submitted annually for each student who requests an interdistrict transfer. Applications from students submitted after the deadline may be considered by the Superintendent if he/she agrees that a special need exists.

D. No interdistrict transfer will be permitted if the enrollment of the grade level being requested exceeds the following:
