BOARD HIRES SCHUR AS HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

The Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education approved the hiring of Susan Schur, principal of Stow-Munroe Falls High School, at its meeting today. Schur has been an assistant principal at SMFHS since 2003 and was formerly a teacher at Kimpton Middle School.

“It is a pleasure to work with such a great faculty and staff,” said Schur. “I will continue the tradition of quality education and excellence. There will be no immediate changes. I have a vested interest in Stow-Munroe Falls. I’ve lived and worked here 17 years.”

Schur has three children: a 2005 graduate of SMFHS, a sixth-grader at Lakeview and an eighth-grader at Kimpton.

“We are very fortunate to have an educational leader the caliber of Sue Schur to lead our high school,” said Superintendent Dr. Russell D. Jones. “Sue is a resident of Stow, has extensive experience as a teacher and administrator in our district and is clearly focused on student academic achievement. I look forward to her leadership at the high school.”

Schur was the first teacher of a multiple-handicapped unit at Kimpton when she began her career in Stow-Munroe Falls, in 1991. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Baldwin-Wallace College, a master’s degree at Kent State University and her administrative degree at the University of Akron. She also taught one year at Weaver School and Workshop and three years in Texas.

Schur’s two-year contract is effective July 1 and her annual salary will be $94,000.
