“ I bring a passion for seeing students succeed and a deep appreciation
for the parents, the community and the staff of the Stow-Munroe Falls City School
District,” said Horton. “I’m looking forward to helping high
school students prepare and transition for life after high school. I’m
also looking forward to continuing to be a part of an excellent school district.”
“We are delighted to have an educator the caliber of Anthony Horton join
the administrative team,” said Superintendent Russell D. Jones. “His
outstanding work as a teacher at Kimpton Middle School is a clear indicator of
his outstanding work ethic and his passion for young people.”
Horton has a bachelor’s degree in Health Education and a master’s
in Educational Administration, both from Kent State University.
Thomas, a Stow resident, has been the director of career and community education
at Kent City Schools for the past 12 years. Prior to that, she was an assistant
principal at Kent Roosevelt High School and the coordinator of business education
program.
“ I’m thrilled to be here,” said Thomas. “This is an
opportunity to work with quality leadership – Sue Schur and Dr. Jones.”
“ We are extremely fortunate to have Kathy Thomas join our school district,” said
Jones. “She brings a wealth of administrative experience and is without
a doubt one of the most respected educators I have had the good fortunate of
meeting.”
Thomas has a bachelor’s degree in Business Education and a master’s
degree in Educational Administration, both from Kent State University.
Horton and Thomas each received a two-year contract. Horton’s annual
salary will be $70,006 and Thomas’ will be $72,000. They are replacing
Char Clamp, who retired in June and Susan Schur who was named head principal
at SMFHS in July.
