Congratulations to the 2009 Seniors, our 100th graduating class! Continuing the Tradition of Excellence!

The Guidance Department will be administering the PSAT test on Wednesday, October 14th at 8:30AM to all interested college bound sophomores and juniors. This test serves as a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program. The PSAT test must be taken as a junior in order to be eligible for the scholarship program. The test also serves as valuable experience in preparing for the SAT test, which is used for college admissions. Students may register for the test by bringing a check for $15.00, along with your social security number to the guidance office. No cash will be accepted and seating is limited. The deadline to register for the test is Wednesday, September 23rd. For more information see your counselor."

Did You Know?

Stow-Munroe Falls High School is home to 2,000 students and 110 full-time teaching staff. The building was constructed in 1987 and has 83 classrooms. In January 1999, we completed a 10-classroom addition to our high school, including two new science labs.

Stow-Munroe Falls is a member of the Six District Educational Compact. There are 20 vocational programs high school students can choose; nine of those are offered at SMFHS. The Compact provides services to more than 24,000 students in Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Kent, Stow, Tallmadge and Woodridge. The Compact also coordinates special education for students with disabilities, summer school, proficiency test preparation, substance abuse prevention and intervention, and a host of special events. By pooling and sharing resources, the Compact makes it possible for these six communities to enjoy "small town" benefits without sacrificing opportunities for their children.

The ATAP program (Academy of Theatre Arts and Performance) is a yearlong program offers students the chance to study set construction and design, drama, voice performance, and musical production.

The Mentorship program was started in 1996. This class is for juniors and seniors who would like to discover a career path of their interest. Students are matched with mentors in the business field and spend 45 hours during one semester learning and working. The class is limited to 30 students. This program is one of 12 in the state of Ohio and the only one in Northeast Ohio. In 2000, we added an Internship program. Students investigate their first career choice in a semester of Career Mentorship and may either investigate a second alternative in the Internship program or more in-depth time with a variation in their first choice.
