Recycle Paper
at our School!
You can recycle paper at our campus 7 days a week. We earn money for paper dropped
off at our green and yellow Abitibi Paper Retriever bin. This is an easy way
for you to recycle your paper every week and help us raise money for playgrounds,
landscaping, books and other worthwhile activities. Please remember to bring
your paper and drop it in the Abitibi Paper Retriever bin. This bin is free to
use, just bring us your paper!
Fun Facts:
Our
school was built in 1960 and holds 18 classrooms. Fishcreek
received a grant to furnish two third-grade classrooms with
iBook laptop computers. The students learn about word
processing, the internet, how to make power point
presentations and much more. Our
Student Council is an active organization with many
sponsored activities and ways for children to gain
leadership skills. Fishcreek
offers music, art, physical education and media center
instruction. A guidance counselor and school nurse are also
available.
We
offer a fully-inclusive setting within our school, meeting
the needs of all. We
offer a latchkey program both before and after
school. We
have an active 4th grade choir that performs at least 2
times/year. In
cooperation with Kent State University, a third-grade class
has the opportunity to learn at the SBC technology classroom
in Kent. For 2 months, students spend the morning doing
their regular curriculum work amidst high technology
equipment. Our
active PTA sponsors many activities throughout the year for
the students and their families. We
have a successful "Ohio Reads" program, where students who
need extra help with reading are tutored 1:1 by community
volunteers. FISHCREEK
ELEMENTARY NAMED WILD SCHOOL SITE
Fishcreek Elementary School became the seventh Summit County school to be certified
as a WILD School Site at a special ceremony April 20, 2005. The Ohio Department
of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife honored our students,
teachers,
volunteers and sponsors for their commitment to creating and using an outdoor
classroom.
Fishcreek has a covered pavilion with picnic tables near the
playground for students and teachers to enjoy during recess
and when doing special activities.
Our school has participated in Links for Life, a special
fundraising campaign to raise money for the bone marrow
transplant unit at Children's Hospital Medical Center of
Akron. Since 1994, the school has donated well over
$36,000. |
