Board President

Current term expires Dec. 2011 I have lived in Stow for the
last 32+ years with my wife Vicki, son Kurt, who graduated from Stow-Munroe
Falls High School, and daughter Madison who is currently
in 6th grade at Lakeview. I recently retired from Bridgestone/Firestone
after 41 years of service in various positions, my latest assignment
as General Manager of a $55 million sales organization. In this
position I managed, directed and was responsible for 123 employees in
my organization along with preparing and maintaining a $4 – $6.5
million expense budget. Other positions included Accounts Receivable,
Accounts Payable and being a Systems Analyst for a period of 10 years.
I was nominated and elected to the ABA Board of Directors for the last
9 years, which is the largest association of Coach Companies across the
continent. I was also nominated and elected to the ABA Board of Governors
for the last 4 years. This Board was responsible to choose students from
across the country and award scholarships for their further education,
plus we selected college students and offered them grants in writing their “white
papers” related to the Coach and Business area. Within the area,
I was appointed by the Mayor of Stow to the Summit County Health Board
as a representative for the cities of Stow and Munroe Falls. In these Director
seats I have visited and discussed various issues with our Senators and
Congressmen on Capitol Hill and now want to extend that into the need and
concerns of our educational programs and financing within Stow and Munroe
Falls.
As of 2008, I am in my first term as a Stow-Munroe Falls School Board member
and am currently serving as Vice President. I am also the liaison between
the School Board and the Finance committee and Legislative committees.
I take it very seriously that our community, school board, teachers and
classified employees must consistently work together for a common cause
- the best education possible for our students.

Current
term expires Dec. 2009 Sworn in June 9, 2008.
Having lived in the area my entire life, I am honored to serve on the Stow-Munroe
Falls School Board. My husband, Michael, and I have four children. Our
eldest, Michael, is a 2008 honors graduate of SMFHS. As a stay-at-home
mother, I have dedicated the last 17 years to the care and education
of our family. I possess a bachelor’s degree in business management
from the University of Akron, and I am currently pursuing a degree in Education.
Through the years, I have volunteered in our schools in a myriad of positions
including library assisting, office support, tutoring, and Ohio Reads,
etc. As a member of several district PTA units, I have consistently served-
and continue to serve- on the executive boards and as committee chair in
numerous capacities. I am extremely proud to support our band and orchestra,
and the Booster Club. Weekends, I teach Sunday School and participate in
church auxiliaries and fellowship groups at our church.
When all is said and done, I believe my greatest strength in serving on
this board is that I am the rule, rather than the exception. I am a very
dedicated parent…with the same experiences, impressions, and concerns
that others in our community and school system share. I believe that my
familiarity with the teachers, staff, parents, and children in our community
and the daily operations of our schools reflects the people’s perspective.
I am committed to maintaining excellence in academics. More importantly,
however, I am passionate about, and dedicated to, the health, happiness,
productivity, and ethical enrichment of each student entrusted into the
district’s care.
